winword.exe process running

I am finding that every time I open Outlook 2003 winword.exe also opens even
though I'm not running Word. How can I prevent this from occuring? If it
isn't possible, can I make winword.exe use less memory?
 
This is because you are using Word as the e-mail editor. You can change this
in Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format
