wintemp.exe error message

I have Windows XP Home edition on my laptop. I keep receiving the
wintemp.exe error message stating "wintemp.exe has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have used antivirus program, spyware program, and BHO program and have not
been able to remove error. I have even reformated my hard drive and the
error still appears. I believe it is in the registry or hot keys. Can some
one give me an idea what needs to be done?

Sounds like a very suspicious file. Are you sure that the anti-virus and
spyware program definitions are up to date? Have you searched the hard drive
for this file?

Also, go to Start/Run and type eventvwr.msc and press OK. Click on
Applications and look for any "X" error messages. Double click the error
message to see the details. Click the Copy Icon on the right side of the
details window and paste the results back to this thread.
