Winsock issues

Hi
I am running winxp. I am able to renew my ip address.
I can not ping any domain name but I can ping ip
addresses. I was trying to ftp to a ftp location and it
was giving me an unknown error. I know how to fix these
type of issues in win98 or me but I could not find any fix
for xp. Please let me know if anyone has any idea it will
be greatly appreciated. thank you.

It sounds like your DNS resolution is hosed. Make sure you're using a valid
name server.
