I'm using Microsoft Outlook as mail program. Attachments that are leaving my
computer as a *.doc file are arriving the recipient as a winmail.dat file,
and can not be opened. What is the memedy?

Outlook 2003 Tools, Options, Mail Format tab. Choose mail format either
HTML or Plan Text. You appear to have Rich Text selected.

Prior versions of Outlook are similar.
