Try using Plain Text format to send your attachment.

To change the format of your email:
Open TOOLS | OPTIONS... | MAIL FORMAT

Don't use RTF (Rich-Text Format) as that is a proprietary file format by
Microsoft. Their products know how to read it (not sure about OE,
though), so it is expected you use RTF when sending to a recipient that
is also using Outlook (i.e., Microsoft recommends using RTF only within
the same organization). Even if the recipient is using Outlook but if
they are off on the Internet somewhere, it seems that it can get
corrupted along the way.

If you are sending e-mails outside your Outlook-Exchange organization
then send using plain-text or HTML format as those are common formats
that all e-mail clients should handle.

Then I have to wonder why moh never bothered to do a search at
Microsoft's own support web site (http://support.microsoft.com/) on
"winmail.dat" for OL2003. KB article 290809 shows up in the short match
list and explains it in detail.

But then I have to wonder why moh published his real e-mail address into
the public by posting in a newsgroup using his true e-mail address.
Guess he/she likes to get spammed by the spambots that roam newsgroups
looking for e-mail addresses. Hey, moh, go read
http://members.aol.com/emailfaq/mungfaq.html, and a Google search on
"e-mail mung" should turn up lots more help.
