I get this error when XP first starts.
Winlogon.exe Bad Image
The application or DLL c:\windows\system32\sfc.dll is not a valid windows
image.

I tried coping the file from the CD and renamed it to the correct file but
still doesn't work.

Any Clues?

I can't not boot into XP.
I took the HD out and scanned for viruses. nothing!
I tried recover console and replaces the winlogon.exe with the one off the CD.
I still can't get into XP.
Should I do a repair install. If so I just tested on another computer
because I didn't want to lose anything and after it was all done it says that
it needs to be activated. It couldn't because of some network issue and the
only option is to call MS and get the activation code.
What should I do?

Sorry I did do a restore and it just goes to a black screen and the mouse
arrow. I can move the mouse but that is it. No ctrl+alt+delete nothing.

Same Issue

Winlogon.exe Error stating the C:\windows\system32\sfc.dll is not a valid windows file & to check my installation diskette.

I have tried , Last known good, system restore, ERD commanders file system repair & a system restore using ERD commander to no avail.

Any suggestions or updates on this issue?
