Hey everyone, I have read throughout this forum about numerous problems regarding the winlogon.exe file and none have seemed to solve my issue. I have DSL at home and have had it for about 5 years. Just over the past week when I first start my computer up, I have no internet access (I.E. or mail client). Sometimes it takes about an hour, other times 3-4 hours. I notice that I get an error just before my internet access is back - WINLOGON.EXE error and must shut down. Once I click OK, my access is instant. When I press CTRL + ALT + DEL, I see that there are two of these running: one under SYSTEM and one under my username. The one that ends up being closed is the one under my unsername. Also, after this gets closed, I find that I cannot use the COMMAND prompt as it flashes super fast on the screen and I am forced to try to hit the PRT SCR button and paste just hoping to see what it said

Any suggestions??

Update your anti virus software and run a full scan.

Copies itself as %Windir%\winlogon.exe.
