After twiddling around with Norton's recycle bin settings (didn't want a recycle bin on an external backup drive), Windows will now not delete any files. It literally just sits there. Single file delete = nothing. Folder delete = explorer crash. Any ideas
Thanks

Does removing the nrotten crapware fix the problem?

You know, I've heard that a lot. I've been using Winders for years, Norton too. Norton seems okay in its latest incarnation, so tell me, what's so bad about it? Is more bad stuff happening in my environment because of it that I don't realize is due to it being there? Or is it rage against the machine, which is fine too, being an old hippy

Rick, thanks. Uh... there are three fixes on line 64, will any of them do to reset the recycle bin
Thanks a lot..

It is a simple explanation. Norton causes far more problems that it prevents.
Just read news groups.

Well in this case my diagnostic was the simple fact that fiddling with
nrotten caused the problem
- "doctor doctor, it hurts when i do this"... "Well don't do it then!".

I will confess however that I don't like them very much. I claim it is
because I've cleaned up so many of the messes they have left behind over the
years and its not funny any more, but you can make your own judgement on
that.

At the end of the day this sort of thing happens a lot with these kinds of
program suites regardless of who wrote the one we're "talking about today".
They rely on interfering with the way your operating system works in order
to "enhance" it.

If something else on your machine also wishes to interfere with that part of
your OS in order to enhance it (or harm it for that matter) then the machine
can be left in an unpredictable state.

Mr. Nutcase... worked like a charm, thank you. Your site is a super valuable one that I've bookmarked and will use in future. Sorry for the inane question, I thought the right column was a description for what the left column did. <slap slap> Thanks, I needed that..
