You know, I've heard that a lot. I've been using Winders for years,
Norton too. Norton seems okay in its latest incarnation, so tell
me, what's so bad about it? Is more bad stuff happening in my
environment because of it that I don't realize is due to it being
there? Or is it rage against the machine, which is fine too, being an
old hippy. JS
Well in this case my diagnostic was the simple fact that fiddling with
nrotten caused the problem
- "doctor doctor, it hurts when i do this"... "Well don't do it then!".
I will confess however that I don't like them very much. I claim it is
because I've cleaned up so many of the messes they have left behind over the
years and its not funny any more, but you can make your own judgement on
that.
At the end of the day this sort of thing happens a lot with these kinds of
program suites regardless of who wrote the one we're "talking about today".
They rely on interfering with the way your operating system works in order
to "enhance" it.
If something else on your machine also wishes to interfere with that part of
your OS in order to enhance it (or harm it for that matter) then the machine
can be left in an unpredictable state.
