WindowText Font selection

Somehow in Windows XP Pro my Properties/Appearance/Advanced/Windows Text
font has changed to MS San Serif 8pt. Bold. It has always been Arial 8pt
Normal.
This causes some of my application dialog boxes to not display properly
(font
is a bit too long).

Using Appearance - WindowsText, I can only chose a foreground and background
color... all the other options are defeated.

Why doesn't Windows allow font and size selection for the WindowText?

How can I change the WindowsText font back to Arial 8pt. Normal?

Thanks for any assistance...

Folks,
This issue has been resolved. Running sfc /scannow (per Michael Solomon)
repaired the problem.
