The last step in encrypting a file is to go to "advanced
attributes" and activate "encrypt contents to secure
data" When that line is shaded and cannot be activated
whatdo you do next?

The Encrypting File System is only available in Windows XP Professional.
You will not be able to use EFS in Home Edition.

Also, your drive must be using the NTFS file system, not FAT32.
To check which file system your hard drive is using, open My Computer, and
righr-click on your hard drive. Select Properties. The file system your
drive is using will be listed on that property page.

And please, if you choose to encrypt, be sure to back up the encryption
certificates and verify the backups! Store them in a safe, secure place.
