My daughter has created a user log on for windows XP but
can't remember the password. I never set up the
administrator password, so now I can't log on the my
computer and run wiundows because of the password
protection she created. Because I can't get into windows I
can't change the password.

Is there anyway I can get into windows and change this
password and user?

Hi Steve,

have you tried blank password on all your known accounts?

If you get Welcome Screen click ALT+CTRL+DEL few times (two should do it).
New logon window should come up. Under username type Administrator and for
password leave it blank or try any other password that might have been set
up
for this account.

If you don't use Welcome Screen then under username type Administrator and
leave password blank or enter any other password that might have been set up
for this account. I hope this helps you out...

Steve;
The password is Case Sensitive.
Check Caps Lock and try various of Capital combinations.

Or
Log in to any account that has Administrator access.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.

Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Here are other options:

Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.
