i purchased windowsXP Media centewre upgrade. before I
got it loaded, I hoawd A windows98 system on the machine
intended to be usef to contain windowsXP.
After beginning the load of XP I received an expected
message instructing me to insert the windOWS98 CD in the
CD drive. After reading it for a little while, it put
out the message "INVALID SYSTE, DISK" and quit. Any
suggestions short of purchasing windowsXP complete
install?

You can't legal purchase a Windows XP Media Center Upgrade, Microsoft doesnt
sell the software also. I would suggest taking the software back.

Xp media center edition is not for sale individually. It only comes on
specially built oem computers. It needs special hardware to run right, you
can't just install it on any computer and certainly not as an upgrade to a
computer that's old and running win98. Not to mention that if you did buy
"media center edition" you got ripped off cause it's a pirate copy and most
likely will not work anyway.
