Hi

Check with your Admin. He/she may have imposed certain restrictions, as I
have restricted certain restrictions here for schools.

i am the admin for the computer. is not windows update.exe by
microsoft???

Right-click on the file and look at its properties. A legitimate MS file
will show that it belongs to Microsoft on the Version tab. Since in
another post you say you have antivirus software, I suggest you update
its definitions and run it. That should answer the question as to
whether or not you have a trojan.

Or go through these malware scanning steps systematically:

hi malke , in the version tab some of it reads like this : file :5.0.1.0
description : FAH5.00 , copyright 2004 , company : stanford
university ,
product name : folding@homeclient. also it seems to be running all the
time. i have ad aware se pro ( latest build ) , Nod32 anti virus , spybot ,
system mechanic ( latest build ). have done scans but come up with nothing.
Yet it sounds bogus.

Folding@Home is legitimate. If you didn't install it, someone else who
uses the computer did. It couldn't have just appeared all by itself.

i looked it up in windows dll and it was listed right beside the real
windowsautomaticupdates. i deleted the dll for it so it would not be running
all the time. it may be legit but i doubt very much it has anything to do
with windows updates. my real windows updates are still working as i just
received a notice to install some. i was told by someone that that usually
comes from installing SETI on your computer. i never installed it but did
download the zip file to install it. thanks
