Is the Windows98 newsgroup gone, and if it isn't can anyone tell me where to
find it? Thanks

Try this
Microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion

I am not sure which group you are talking about.

It also depends on your news server as well.

Thanks guys, but there used to be a group at
microsoft.public.windows98.general I know they gave up 98 support, but I
didn't think it would include the newsgroup.

The newsgroup :
microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion
is still alive and well (over a dozen posts for 07 May 06
(Windows update is still providing critical updates as well, I just finished
building a new Win98SE box)

The end of security updates for 98, 98SE and ME are scheduled for July
11, 2006.

So What,
That does not mean you have to stop using it. I am sure they are
still people running, Microsoft dos, Microsoft windows 95 and other
non supported Microsoft operating systems. I still will be using
windows 98se a long time after that. There will always be at least
one company that will have virus scanner for those operating system.

There will be unofficial patches for windows 98se after Microsoft ends
it support. I trust Steve from grc.com

Anyway as far as groups. This group is still in use but rarely.
Microsoft.public.win95.general.discussion

So the Microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion group will still be
around for sometime to come.

Good ;-) Just finished building a Win98SE box for old glide games (and to
use new parts that I had stored in a cupboard)
(Had to search hard for a new sound card with Win98 drivers though)

Well, I am dual-booting with XP Pro. and 98SE and I plan to keep using
98SE after July 11, 2006 too. There was no need to get defensive. I
did not say that people had to stop using it. Anyway, have a nice day.
