i have windows homexp
when i shut the computer down i.e.log out completely
it takes a couple of minutes before the computer
swithches itself off.
my friends computer takes only about 10 seconds
why is this?

Simple. They are different machibes. They run different programs in the
background that close at different sppeds. THe CPU and memory may be
different sppeds. You can't expect to machines to act exactly the same.
Not even if they have the exact same hardware and software. The are mnnay
variables that can affest things. 18 seconds is nothing to worrry about.
