my com problem is that recently after closing it down next time I restart it
all my bookmarks have been deleted and all sitenames visited have also
gone.this means I cant save anything as it will all delete as soon as I shut
down the com.

Try a Firefox support forum, seeing as how you mention Bookmarks..

Do you have something like ccleaner set to run at shut down and/or restart?

Browser ? Clear history / bookmarks etc at closedown ?
