I am trying to find out the reasons for the difference of
space needed for XP. The text says W98 some 80+ ram and Xp
128 of ram.
I have also trotted around the Windows Help pages for
about an hour and almst every enquiry ends with a page I
have seen about a dozen times before that gives no
information except how to stay on the roundabout for
another hour or so..
The information to contact Microsoft is about as useless
as last week'sfish and chip dinner.

Has anyone ever been able to get a simple answer to a
simple question from Microsoft?

Are you talking about space requirements or RAM requirements? The two are
completely different animals. Space refers to the amount of space on your hard
drive that XP will occupy. Minimum RAM refers to the amount of memory that's
required.

Space requirements will vary somewhat depending on how your system is set up.
256MB is a realistic minimum for memory, although 384MB or 512MB would be
better.
