Is it possible to set the computer to boot up at a certain time
each day?

Yes, if your BIOS setup offers that option. Your subject line is in-
correct - after shutdown, Windows is *not* running and cannot boot
itself therefore.

Dave:

I have my PCs hibernate, some at 9:30 each night, some at 10:30, if left on,
and wake up each morning at 4:55AM to do updates, backups etc, and hibernate
again at 6:30AM. It's all done via a task scheduler. and I use third party
freeware to do the hibernation.

I have a shortcut that I click to hibernate, rather than shutdown the PC, in
which case it will not startup by itself again.

Some have argue with me in the past that I can do this via "standby" but my
PC clearly says "going to hibernation", and "resuming form hibernation" in
the AM.

This would be a function of the computer bios. On my computers it is
included in the power options section of the bios. If it is not there is
your bios, you will have to search to see if you have the capability.
