I have installed the lovely windows xp that i purchased a
few months ago 5 times. Lovely. Everytime i get past the
instalation to the "lets get started phase" after it boots
the coputer locks up. When i reboot, it locks up again,
and the only way to start it is in safe mode. With no
real answers on the boards, and no help in tech support,
via email, unless u have passport, which i cant get until
i register, which i cant do until i get out of safe mode,
this is a LOVELY problem. I just wish that someone could
tell me how to fix the problem, microsoft could replace my
defective copy, or give me some support that would be
great. This is a problem, only becase i have 3 projects
due for presentation on Tuesday, no computer and no help.
I loved the support page, very usefull. (e-mail address removed)

I'd start checking the graphics card. Then, check your memory (RAM). See the
MS XP Approved Hardware list, use Memtest, upgrade BIOS, drivers.
Also, check your BIOS settings - set PnP OS to No, for ex.
If you're OK so far, try to install on another harddrive - or 0 out the one
you have - in the same machine, too.
