I have win XP loaded on a hard drive for diagnostic purposes. I use it
to test motherboards, If I load XP onto this drive using one
motherboard chipset and then try to boot again off another motherboard
with another chipset then windows hangs on load. Then I need to go
through the whole install process over again.

I hear that there are some files that can be erased from the drive so
that windows XP will load new drivers if those files are deleted.
Anyone know anything about this?

How can I run the SysPrep tool?

There are significant differences between Intel and AMD system
components. When you use a different "Chipset" to boot the PC
those system level drivers are not present. A Microsoft tool called
SysPrep can be used to run a Mini-Setup on the 1st run and do
a full device re-enumeration. This process is used with Imaging.

However, even with the same basic Chipset you may run into
problems with differing HALS.(Hardware Abstraction Layers.)
It might be possible to boot the new/replaced motherboard into
Safe mode (Generic drivers) and then delete components from
Device Manager, reboot and try to re-enumerate the device tree.
However, the chances this process would succeed are pretty dim.

You might have to install the appropriate Chipset drivers while in
Safe mode and then see if a reboot will detect and load the correct
drivers.(Intel Chipset or Hyperion 4-in-1).
