Whenever I put one of my already written to CDs in to my DVD-R drive
Windows immediately brings up a blank window to "Write to the CD"
instead of showing me what is already there.

I have tried to "Explore" and "Open" from the My Computer window but all
this does is give me a blank or the "Write to this CD" window respectively.

The disks I am trying to access were written on a previous CDRW drive
when I was still using Windows ME and Easy CD Creator, and were written
as closed sessions.

Other program CDs work fine in the DVD-R drive for exploring and viewing
content.

Everything says it's working properly in the Control Panel.

Any solutions?

Hi,

Some CD-r require the cd to be closed so tht the data can be read on other
cd drives. i think that this i the case with your cd disk.

Please explain: "closed" in the context of your reply. I am having what
sounds like the same problem. Further I noted that the properties of the disk
always says the disk is completely full and there are 0 files and 0 data even
though I know there actually is. The entry in the 'My Computer' tree simply
changes to 'E: CD Drive' the autoplay function only gives the option to write
the blank disk. The disk is not blank but my system thinks it is even though
it also thinks the disk is full. I am leaping to the assumption that it is
compatability issue between my old system and drive on which the disks were
originally written and the present new one. If this is the case how can that
data be recovered or recognized? If isn't true what do you suggest?

CD's are always full. They are read only media so there is always 0 bytes free.

Ask Easy CD. It's their program. Standards have changed and older programs don't alway work with newer programs. CDs are flakey anyway and they may be corrupted.
