I want to upgrade to Windows XP from Windows 98 but want
to make sure it will be compatible with Office 2000
Professional.

Will these products work together or will I have trouble?

Office2000 works fine on XP. But you will probably need to re-install it
after you upgrade the OS.

For some reson, it doesn't survive the upgrade process. And, if you run
the Compariablity Wizard fromthe XP CD it will tell you to uninstall Office
and re-install it after the upgrade.

No problem, but make sure that you after installing Windows XP you go to the
MS update site and download the ( very large) updates to office 2000.

Mike,
Are you saying that if you already have Office 2000
installed with Win98 and you upgrade Win98 to WinXP, then
Office 2000 will continue to work with the new WinXP OS ?

What about if I want to install WinXP on a new PC hard
disk. Using my original Office 2000 install cdrom, would I
be able to install Office 2000 onto the WinXP machine, and
then install the SR-1a and SP-3 service packs ?

Would I then be able to copy my previously working backed-
up mailbox.pst and address book.pab files onto the new
WinXP hard disk and point Outlook to these files ?

Apologies if this is too dumb a question, I'm very new to
having to do this stuff for myself.

John.
