i have a dfi nb76-ec motherboard with intel chipset i845g
and even with everything in the bios as far as hardware
turned off except foir the onboard sound.(noi bios option
to disable it)the furthest the install makes it is
checking system configuration and hardware. it hangs
right their.
i have tryed also the onboard video and a nvidia gf2.

it will not install on this board for some reason

anyone have any info or a work around?

installing xp w/o an os would be in MS-DOS mode, the
drivers arent going to help.Turn everything back to
default settings in the BIOS,then save changes and exit
BIOS,install xp cd,boot to cd,install xp.
You might even set, load set-up defaults before exiting
the BIOS.Also,is the hd formatted,if not it needs to
be done first, thats done in recovery(boot to xp cd).

ok i have installed xp many times b4 and the problem is i
never make it into the install on the cd
it hangs right where it says checking hardware
configuration and settings
i never even gewt to the point to be able to choose
recovery.and it has linux on the drive right now which
has never been a problem in the past.i can even format
over the linux partitions with the xp cd.it seems their
is something hardware wise on this board that is
freezeing up the install.

is their a way to by-pass the the automatic hardware
detection or what ever xp seems to be doing at that stage
of the install. This is not the only dfi board i have had
problems with trying to install xp on to.
