Hello all,

My system recently crashed, and I have needed to do a compete reinstall of
Windows XP. I've done this before, but this time there seems to be a
recurrent problem. (Using another PC to write this!)

I'm not rebooting from a recovery disc, but from the XP disc itself.

I've reformatted the hard drive, after making a new partition, and
everything goes OK for a bit. It creates a list of files to be copied, but
when it reaches the 19% mark, it says it can't install kodak_dc.icm. I have
to press "esc" to skip the file, but as it goes on, several others wont work
either. rio8drisys is one of them.

I've even tried exchanging the XP disc for another, but it makes no
difference. I wonder how to get round this problem?

Maye here's a tutorial around somewhere that puts things in plain English!

Thanks all,

R

Those files are not part of the Windows operating system. It doesn't
sound like you are doing a clean install or you have peripherals like
your Rio and camera connected while you are trying to do the install.
Here is a walk-through of a clean install:

Usually when I have seen issues like that it has been one of two things.

Either the CDRom drive can not transfer the information to the system,
(possible bad drive) or the hard drive itself has issues.

You can download diagnostic tools for your hard drive from the manufacturer
and test it to see if that is the issue.
