Windows XP update causes an error in other programs

Hi,
I uploaded the newist hotfix for windows XP yesterday. And
after installing it I didn´t restart my computer rightaway
but after restarting some programs don't work. For example
my virus scan get stuck befoure it eves starts. I use
AntiVir. Also my Ad-aware pro doesen´t work ok.
Does any one know what to do?!? Do I have to istall
windows XP again and add all the hotfixis and servisepack
also?!?
Please help!!!

Just uninstall the update - if it was what actually broke things, then you
will fix it by removing the update you installed. (Control Panel ->
Add/Remove programs.)

You may be able to see what you installed by going to
windowsupdate.microsoft.com and viewing your installation history.

I tried that but the service pack is not shown in the list
of ServicePacks and hotfixes in Add/Remove programs.
I also tried to System Restore and that didn't work ether.
I also got a new virus scan and I don't have virus.
I don't know what to do. Please help.
The thing that messed up everything was actually the
ServisePack 1 for Internet Explorer KQ867... something..
