WIndows XP Task bar freezing

I recently had to deal with my Task bar freezing and when trying to click on
'start or any open aplications, it would give me a warning sound and that is
it.I cannot use anything to do with it. System tray, clock....the whole thing
is frozen.....

What to do?

There can be many causes for system lockups. Unfortunately, we don't

1. Make sure the computer is virus/malware-free:
