as usual I am fighting with the ridiculuos Windows XP (i am very rarely using Evil Bill Gates programs... I am instead a very happy Apple Macintosh user) but I need to find out for my poor dad (who is doomed to use this crap), why his state of the art Dell desktop is growing slower and slower at start up (we are now at over 3 minutes!!!!) when the ADSL modem is connected.

if any of you have the same problem I'd appreciate some help... and then if you can, I'd suggest you get yourself an Apple. My dad can't do that unfortunately as his clients are too doomed to use evil bill stuff.... (this world is going crazy)

thanks
marco

don't know what's going on, but I *could* very well imagine that statements
like: "who is doomed to use this crap" are a *real* incentive for people to
try and help out.

:-))

I'm not sure if this will help your problem but it will speed XP up.
1.right click on my computer.
2.Click the advanced tab.
3.Under performance click the settings button.
4.Check custom, and un-check all those boxes.
5.Click apply.
Everything should be faster and who knows it might help your prob.
