Hi,

I have seen a stop message which briefly appeared but then
disappeared so quickly, I couldn't read it. Is the error
message stored in XP? and if so where can I view it?

Thanks
Sean

If it appeared and disappeared so quickly it could not have been a STOP
message. Check event viewer (Run eventvwr.msc). Many, though not all,
Windows error messages are logged there. If the message was not from
Windows, it probably won't be recorded.

It should be stored in your event viewer. Right-click on My Computer and
select Manage. Then on the left side, under System Tools, select Event
Viewer, then System. All system events are stored here -- notificiations,
connections, errors, dialog boxes, etc. Great resource to fix troubles.

If the Stop error only happened once, there's probably nothing to worry
about... These things happen. In fact, almost all Stop errors in XP say
something like "If this is the first time you've seen this screen, try
restarting your computer. If this message appears again, contact your system
administrator."

First place to start is to look at the Event log(s).
