Windows XP start up error

Mike Mc.

Everytime Windows XP loads I get the following error
message almost immediately, "Can't Run 16-bit Windows
Program. Insufficient memory to run this application.
Quit one or more Windows applications and then try again."

Since this happens at startup, I have no idea what
program is being referred to. While the message is
displayed I can use the windows task manager to find the
related process and it show the "ntvdm.exe" file.

How can I find out what program is not being run, why and
if I need it? How can I fix it so I don't get this error
message at every startup?

Any help would be appreciated.

Go to run, type:Msconfig Services Tab,chk the box, hide all microsoft services
then chk the box, disable all,Close out, restart computer. This lets the computer restart
w/o all add on software,if the error goes away, you'll know its not a window
error. Then start disabling one at a time to find the problem service.Go back int
Msconfig and enable the services.
