Hi All,

I have seen dates referring to SP2 downloads running up to 12th April 2005.
I already run a secure PC using Norton software and don't particularly
want M$ telling me what i can/can't access via the internet !!
Up till now i just keep unticking the box when Win-Update tells me
SP2 is ready to download.
But, what is believed to happen to Windows XP after the above date ??

sp2 doesn't add anything to prevent you from going places.

Although there is no real benefit to sp2.

You can also run the little tool microsoft provides to set a flag in the
registry to tell the automatic updater not to download sp2. That'll only be
done until that date, then it'll get downloaded anyway.

I'm not sure they've actually said.

My guess though is that they'll stop doing security patches for the older
versions, and only do it for sp2. So if you want to keep your system up to
date, you'll have to install sp2.
