Windows XP/SP2 still won't talk to Norton AV 2003

SP2 was installed, from disc, without problems. Windows
Security Centre recognises Norton AV 2003 OK but, as
Symantec warn, status will not be communicated until
their update is downloaded from site. This has been done
successfully but it still won't work.
Anyone out there had the same problem please?

As far as I know, Symantec haven't released an update for NAV 2003
(yet), only the 2004 version.

Several have reported that installing the 2004 WMI update on NAV
2003 works fine:

For Norton Antivirus 2004:

After installing XP Service Pack 2, the message "Your computer might
be at risk . . . " appears

i spoke to a representitive at Symantec and he told me that they are not
issuing an update for any of their 2003 products- of course he told me that
i could purchase the 2004 or wait for Oct when the 2005 products come out.
I told him that was not really fair especially since my defintion
subscripton is not over till feb 3 2005, he should give me a rebate for the
months i am loosing. You can imagine what he said to that!

If this is correct, it is bad :-(

Especially as it looks like there is no development resources needed
for the NAV 2003 WMI update as it looks like the NAV 2004 WMI update
works fine on NAV 2003.

I double checked today and called Symantec back and now he told me they are
"thinking about it" because of the complaints they received- I am wondering
if those complaints were similar to mine for those who updated their
definition subscription and is now stuck to go buy 2004 or 2005

I asked him well "are you are aren't you going to issue an update because I
saw on a newsgroup that the WMI update can be gotten and people said it
works for 2003? He told me he had no info at this time(on either
subject)-sigh- well I guess I will wait and see- Norton firewall 2005 is not
coming out till Oct which is only in a few weeks- maybe by then there will
be something for 2003 products- one could only hope!
