I have a CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. I right-click and choose Ejectt. The
CD-ROM ejects but the drive is still populated with what was on the CD-ROM.
The autorun.inf icon is still there. This cache will stay there for God
knows how long. This inferferes wth a well operating system. Is there a
fix for this? Thanks.

This happens on all CD-ROM drives I have tried. Do you think it is the
CD-ROM drives? The same CD-ROM drive does NOT exhibit this behavior in
Windows 2000 SP4. In fact this never happens in Windows 2000.

George:

Doesn't happen here. Explorer contents clear when Eject
selected from context menu.

Pioneer drive, SP1.

Wonder if it's drive-specific?

I've never seen any such phenomenon on any working WinXP machine. I
certainly cannot duplicate it on any of the computers in my home. I've
seen something happen with floppy drives, however; and it was invariably
caused by a defective drive. CD drives don't work the same way, though.
