Windows XP SP2 Install Not Showing Up at Install History

I have a dial up modem so I took my CPU into Circuit City
to have them install Service Pak 2 which they did.
However the installation history is not showing that the
service pak was installed. I called the store to confirm
that work was done and it was.

I have Norton anti-virus installed plus Nero back-up
system. Could either of these be preventing an update to
be recorded in my PC's installation history?

Since Service Pak 2 is not showing up in my PC's
installation history (in spite of the fact that it has
been installed), will this present future problems with
installing service packs?

I appreciate any feedback you can offer.

When you say Install History, are you referring to Add/Remove Programs? If so, when they did the installation, they may have elected not to backup your current files. In this case, there's no way to "uninstall", as the original files were removed.

Hi!
I at first started downloading sp2 from the Windows update
web site, but due to slow dial-up connections I was having
more trouble than it was worth. So I installed from the
disk, and now the Windows Update site doesn't recognize
the sp2 installed on my Computer. I know it wouldn't show
up on my update history, because I didn't install through
Windows Update. ????? Dad2ten

That's correct. It won't show up in Windows Update history, because you installed it locally.
