Windows XP Shuts Down Right after Start-Up

All of a sudden I am having problems turning on my computer. When I power
up, it takes a while to Start Up. Once it finally boots up, within a couple
of minutes it shuts down. It does this over and over. This has never
happened to me before. I might also add that I just recently switched out my
mouse and keyboard to a wireless Logitech duo if that makes any difference.
 
Hi Kasper,
Check that all cable (Power Cable,Mouse Ifra cable, Monitorcable)are firmly
fitted,may be while you try to install the Wireless mouse you made something
else loose.

I will certainly feel like an idiot if the fix is that easy. :-) However, I
will also be happy if it's that easy!

Anyway, I will check all the connections after I get home from work and let
you know if that was the problem. (I had to post this from my work computer
since my home computer doesn't stay on long enough!)

Well, I checked all my cables and the same thing is happening. The machine
boots up, then shuts down. I also opened up the CPU and cleaned out the
dust. I didn't have time, but I was going to try and hook my old keyboard
and mouse back up and see if the computer does the same thing. If it does, I
know there is a problem with the CPU. I will try this tonight after work.

If you have any other suggestions, I'm listening!

Hi Kasper,
Please be patient,try to go to Safe Mode and Try to see Event Viewer Logs
and look for any Red Crosses for any hardware and Applications,and wriye them
down and send them here,another thing if you could go to device Manager and
try to troubleshoot if there 's a conflict for the IRQ with other Devices
installed on your system or go to the BIOS and try to Cinfig the Mouse and
the Keyboard from there.

well, I did try switching back to my original mouse and keyboard to satisfy
that possibility. There was no change in my computer's behavior.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to go into Safe Mode. It seems that the
computer boots up, and as soon as it's up, it immediately goes to Shut Down
mode. I try clicking on icons or menu items and nothing happens.

I am going into panic mode. I think my computer may just be too old (it's a
Gateway Performance 1400cl that I acquired in June 2001) and something has
gone "kaput." I have never had any problems with it until now. I am hoping
it's fixable because I really don't need the extra expense of a new computer
right now.

I feel that since I can't seem to access anything, I probably need to take
it somewhere.

Dejected in California.

Hi Kasper,
I'm sorry,I'm realy runout of ideas on this,best for you to take to Repair
Centre and hopefully will fix for you. I will be interested to if they did
fix what was wrong with it and it will be good if you send it to the group
for other to have the benfit if they will be in the same situation.
