Hello, I am having a problem where I can not shut down my
computer. I can select the START - Turn Off Computer -
and the screen turns grey (Like it should), but after
clicking the Turn Off button the computer stays on and
goes back to the desktop as if you never selected to turn
the computer off. The only way that I can get the
computer to turn itself off, is to go to START - Log Off -
Turn Off Computer. At this point a message pops up that
says something to the effect of "Clicking OK will close
all open programs running at this time for all users."
After this, it turns off within seconds. BTW, I am the
only user and have the Admin privileges.

Mace,

It sounds to me as though one of your programs are
hanging. If it were I would run msconfig and disable all
start up programs and see if computer shuts down
correctly. If it does, then start adding them back one
at a time until you find the guilty app. then either
uninstall the app if not important, or try reinstalling.
Or uninstall app and reinstall. If that does not work
contact software vendor.
