Hi.
Really I need some help and couldn't find this message in
the KB. When I run the upgrade advisor off my brand new
Windows XP Pro CD I get the following message :
"Windows XP Setup does not support upgrading from
Microsoft Windows Millenium to Microsoft Windows
Professional. Setup cannot continue."

Is this a joke? How can MS sell a new OS that won't
upgrade one of their most recent Os's? Is something set
wrong? I have tried a clean boot as described in the KB,
same thing. I have downloaded the Dynamic Download patch
because this computer is not on the internet yet. Can I
burn this to a cd a run it from the other machine under
Win ME? Please help.

Sincerely,
Warren

Warren;
Is Windows XP an OEM?
That is the message you get with OEM.
OEM are normally for Clean Installation only and incapable of
upgrading.
Another of the many reasons OEM is cheaper than retail.

Did you purchase a full RETAIL (boxed) copy of Windows XP or did you buy an
OEM copy? OEM copies are notorious for these issues and usually the $100
you saved (if you are new to this type of thing) would have been money well
spent.

Is this what you are seeing?
