hello,
i also just installed xp sp2 and am now without anti
virus, ad blocking, spyware blocking and a variety of
others programs that i would rather not think about
i wonder if they care about all the havoc that is created
and the inconvience of not having a working maching that
most ppl have invested $1,000 or more into.

I would love to help you, but you neglected to mention what antivirus,
ad-blocking, spyware-blocking, etc. programs you have that no longer
work. If you have a full-featured, current version (no earlier than
2003) antivirus installed and you are getting the prompt from Security
Center that it doesn't recognize your av, 1) go to the av mftr.'s
website and see if there is an update to the program for SP2; 2) or go
to the Security Center applet in Control Panel and click on "Change the
way Security Center alerts me". Uncheck the box for the av alerts. The
same advice goes for the firewall. Security Center does not recognize
every av/firewall program, or the programs may need a patch. Make sure
you are not running the Windows Firewall *and* a third-party firewall.
Turn off the Windows Firewall in that case.
