I know I cannot be the only one having this problem, but I
can find no answers on this subject. I have a machine
with on 80gig hard drive partitioned so that I have 1 gig
at the begining of the drive dedicated to the windows swap
file. The rest of the drive has everything else on it.
It's been working great for over a year.

Recently I've been trying to install Windows XP Service
Pack 2 and every time it gets to the point where SP2 is
checking for available free space, I get an error saying
that I don't have any. This has become very frustrating
as ALL of the other programs I have installed knew to
install on the D drive and not the C. Can anyone help?

The easiest way to solve your problem is to increase your
swapfile partition, you'll approximately need 1.5Gb free
space, then install SP2 and afterwards change your
partition back to it's previous settings.
If XP is really trying to install SP2 on that specific
partition, you'll probably have to hack some registry
settings to have SP2 installed on the right partition.
