Although it worked at one point, the SEARCH function in Windows XP will not find TEXT in WordPerfect documents. It did so readily, then stopped doing so, then I had it working a few days ago; now it will no longer do it. I can find identical text in Excel, but not in a .wpd document.

I've tried EVERYTHING to get rid of that crappy microsoft search engine...it won't LET me! I'm trying to change it to Google or something--ANYTHING--other than microsoft. Very low quality and miserable. Bundled software sucks :(

It's great to get a response, Janet. Thanks. It's just amazing to me that something like that works, then stops working, then works again, then doesn't. Something specific is changing, but I can't figure out what. When it worked it was fabulous: I'd type part of the file name (didn't even need to give directory or even full file name), type in a word of text, and whammo, there was a list of all the files with that word in it. Then all of a sudden it doesn't look for the word in .wpd files, but finds the same word in .xls files.

I thought I replied to you, but don't see my post, so maybe I made a mistake. Anyway, wanted to THANK YOU! It worked. Fantastic. Neither Dell, nor Corel could help. No idea how that setting gets changed, but it works marvelously now. It's a fabulous search function when operating. How in the world can one get these things fixed when even the vendors, who are charging hundreds of dollars for "support" cannot help? I guess it is sites like this with wonderful volunteers like you. Thanks again, JB
