John

I've never used the task scheduler before. Today I
looked in it and saw the following:

Name: Tune-up application start
Schedule: Multiple schedule times
Next Run Time: 9:00:00am 11/1/2003
Last Run Time: Never
Status: Could not start
Last Result: 0x0
Creator: mleo

My XP installation is BRAND NEW (I just purchased XP
pro). Does anyone know if this was created by
installation of XP, or it's due to a virus, etc?

mleo is NOT a valid ID on my system!

Thanks.

Thanks....

This is the periodic 'mini defrag' or optimisation of the file system,
which is done every three days, provided that (after scheduler sets it
to look) it can find an otherwise idle period within a reasonable time:
which is probably why it failed to start. You may also find entries for
the daily run of System Restore. Neither appears as a Scheduled task,
but they need Task Scheduler active in order to work
