Windows XP runs ok for about 15mins Please Help

I installed some updates of windows update and the machine was ok until i turned it on afew days later. I turned it on and it seemed ok for about 15 mins, when it just freezes and runs really slow. The machine has an AMD 64 bit prossesor and a 256mb graphics car. So its a bit odd

Please Help
