windows Xp restart hanging problem

please can some one help out

i have just built up a new pc and installed windows XP home edition onto it but when the pc come to restarting its self or if i select restarts in closes windows but just stays at a black screen and hangs it doesnt boot back up and i have to press the reset button everytime

WHY is this happening and HOW can i stop it

a quick return on this would be much appricated

I don't have the OP anymore, so I will put my reply here.
Do you happen to have an Intel motherboard? And does the problem also
arise when you use the shutdown command? If so download the Intel
Application Accelerator and install is (Note, it's not for all types
of Intel motherboards).
