To the OP:
That has certainly *not* been our experience. We have performed dozens of
Repair installs and I can't recall a single instance involving loss of email
messages, either those currently in the Inbox or in the Sent Items folder.
Of course it is *always* prudent that before performing a Repair install
(not a trivial process that is undertaken by the OS!) it is wise to back up
as much data as you can in the event the process does goes awry.
