Windows XP reinstall

Hi,

I have recently bought a new PC with an XP OEM French.
To rectify this I bought XP International English and
tried installing this (New installation)

This worked fine to begin with, but once installed all
Programs, although still on the HDD, have disappeared
from the Start>Progs list and I had no sound anymore.
Have since recovered the french version and still have
nothing in Start>Progsm but have sound and everything
else working ok again.

How can I install English XPm get all the progs back in
the list and keep the device settings such as sound?

In order to change languages, you basically did a clean install. What that
means is that you must reinstall all applications and restore all personal
documents yourself.
