I recently got a new motherboard and processor. And as
many know you have to reinstall windows. When trying to
repair the installation, i didn't know my administrator
password, so i reinstalled. This however made all the
programs listed on my start menu disappear. The programs
are still in the Program Files folder on my computer. How
can i make them show up on the start menu again?!?!

Not true. You might need to activate your copy of Windows again, but there's
no need to reinstall it.

Another good reason not to forget your administrator password...

Since you reinstalled Windows, you will now need to reinstall all of your
programs. A better way to do this would be to reinstall Windows again, but
this time choose to format (erase) the drive first. That way, you won't have
any left over orphan files from your previous installation.

Jeremy--

Go to Kelly's Tweaks and try these:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 309 Left: Restore Start Menu
Line 289 Left: Start Menu Enable
Line 165 Left: Enable Start Menu Subfolders
Line 117 Left: Restore Taskbar and Start Menu
Line 31 Right: Disable Changes Made to the Start Menu

That has started a new registry, so none of your programs is now
registered - you will have to reinstall them

Did you try leaving the password for Administrator blank? If you do not
remember setting one, it probably is blank
