Can someone please tell me if Windows XP has a "Recent Documents" folder
like other versions of Windows have on the start menu?

Thanks!

Sure it's there automatically under Documents.
And if you want to access it w/o start menu it is located:
C:\documents and settings\{username}\My Recent Documents
But you need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files or folders:
In Windows Explorer:Tools | Folder Options | "View" Tab | subcategory Hidden
Files and Folders
Change Radio button to select "Show hidden files and folders"

Thanks for the info, but I'm sure I looked through the Start Menu and
Programs menu thoroughly and didn't find it! I will look again, and if not I
will try and create a shortcut in the Start menu to the folder you
mentioned. Thanks again.

If it isn't there Right click on the taskbar and select properties. Click
the Start Menu Tab and then the Customize button.
"Advanced" Tab
Scroll down to My Documents subcategory and make sure the radio button is on
either
"Display as a link" or "Display as a menu"

If that isn't the problem it may be disabled in TweakUI if it's installed.
Post back if you need assistance with TweakUI.

Still about Recent Documents, is there a tweak to adjust the number of
recent docs this shows?

None that I am aware of and I found nothing in the Wndows registry that
could be tweaked.
It shows the most recent documents on the TOP of the list if that helps and
you can clear it anytime you want usng the same set of directions I gave you
to turn it on. the CLEAR button in the properties box where the radio
buttons were clears the list.

Yes - it's possible. To do so you have to go to the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
create (change) here dword value "MaxRecentDocs" and set it to equal the
number of documents to display in the recent documents list.

Hi, Tony.

Right-click Start, then Properties | Advanced | Start Menu | Customize |
Advanced. At the bottom of that screen, check the box for List my most
recently opened documents.

Like Wojo, I'm not sure there is an easy way to change the number of
documents listed, but my list is alphabetical, not chronological.

If your Windows Updates are current, the menu item will say My Recent
Documents; the first version just said Recent Documents, as I recall. And,
of course, this is in addition to the My Documents list.

Thank you very much!
