I had to go out and purchse a retail copy of XP Home to re-install on my
HP7905. Due to PC crashing and losing the OPS. Ran thru the installation,
and a majority of original programs that was shipped with PC - (XP) included:
Are no longer there. Such as Microsoft Works.
Tried the 7 Disk set of HP/XP recovery, but it refuses to recognize hard
drive .
Are they hidden somewhere else ? Help Please !......Thx a Bunch (in
advance) for any help.

You have ran into the delimma that your pre-installed HP pc has given you
problems. You decided to re-install with a retail version of XP instead of
the bundled version that HP provide. MS Works was NEVER included in any
retail version of Windows. It seems that HP had decided to bundle MS Works on
your PC. If the 7 disks do not work, you will need to contact HP directly,
since thay:

1) Provided you with the original XP install

2) Provided you with the 7 disk restore set

3) Bundled MS Works (and additional programs)

The original programs came with the Recovery Disks. Are these disks you
made yourself? It would make more sense for you to return the retail XP
Home you bought and call HP tech support. They will send you out a set
of Recovery Disks for around $25. Use those. Or have a professional
computer repair person check out the machine. "Due to PC crashing and
losing the OPS" means nothing to me. Perhaps your machine is having
hardware problems. There is no way of knowing from here.
