Windows XP Random Shutdown

A week ago I had a problem with XP with required me to re-
install a fresh install on a newly formatted disk. Now for
some unknown reason I am getting what I call 'random'
shutdowns.

I could be either exploring with IE, or working on a Excel
spreadsheet or Word document when my system just goes into
System Shutdown mode and shuts down.

It is pretty much random, sometimes it happens after a
couple of hours, sometimes it happens within seconds of
booting up.

As you can imagine it is giving me grief, as I have not
idea as to what might be causing it. I have not installed
any software which I did not have on my last install and
never had this problem before now.

I have even set my BIOS settings to minimum specification
to see if this works but it is still coming up.

Any ideas? E-mail address for any e-mail responses is
sonoftill at hotmail dot com

TIA for any assistance!

Carl

It could be that your computer has been infected with the Blaster virus. For

Norton AV running, scan has found nothing. Also ran
FIXBLAST to be on safe side, nothing found. I am also NAT
behind a router, no unusual activity showing.

However, when I look in the SECURITY.LOG there are a lot
of 'Failure Audit' messages? Even though I know I have not
actually entered an incorrect password?

Is this a RED-HERRING?

Also spotting this in the system log at the time the PC
shutsdown, suggesting I am loggin off - even though I have
not initiated the log-off??
