We are running into problems with running Office XP.

Some of our problems are: Using Office XP with existing
files that were created in Office 97, Shared files, not
all are using Office XP. What needs to be set up for the
migration. These files do not always go up to Office XP,
and after you do upgrade them they can not go back to
Office 97. Is there a fix for these problems. Or do you
have any suggestions.

is there not the option in Office XP to "save as" an older version?

Specifically, what problems are you having? Is it with Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, or other?

I wouldn't expect to see many problems going upwards in version number,
and I would expect that Office 97 programs may have some difficulty with
the newer version. I would expect that you will have problms going up
and down in versions.

The bottom line rule is that you have to decide what is your standard.
Decide if you will use Office 97 or Office XP. Make everyone save in
that format. My hunch is that you should settle on Office XP and throw
away all copies of Office 97 and stop using files in that format.

Not had any problem going back/forward between office XP and Office97
=except= for Access (which is a pig) .. Excel and Word documents both
seem to move just fine (with all the latest patches and upgrades to
Office97 installed) .. although some spreadsheets work rather poorly
under ExcelXP .. something to do with more functions being defined as
'volatile', it seems.
