I have a windows xp proble
my troubles started when I got cable service
Now in normal mode I cant start some problems, like control panel or windows explorer
I can access them in safe mod
is there something running that is preventing my access to programs

All my problems started when I got cable internet too. All sorts of bad things started happening. Weird programs were downloaded without my permission from the internet. Many diffrent programs started doing odd things. I had to re-install the operating system. You loose everything, so you have to back up first. Then I got McAfee privacy service. It solved the whole problem. I also recommend shutting down your computer at night. During the night all sorts of computers try and access your computer on cable. I didn't realize that. It caused more problems than a virus. Hope this helps

Do you have a firewall enabled? If not, turn on XP's firewall.

Three steps you can take to improve your computer's security:

Perform an online scan of your system at any of the following:

Finally scan for malware:

Try downloading, installing and updating the free
